If you have not heard of Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen capsules (also called Zi Xiu Tang Beauty Face and Figure Capsules), this is a natural weight loss supplement where some websites actually encourage people to eat
what they want! Even in the educational pamphlet that accompanies Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen say:
“No Diet Restrictions” and that people can achieve “excellent results” even while eating “high fat and high calorie foods”.
This is the second review I’ve written about the Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen. In my first editorial, I covered the weight loss evidence for the proposed active ingredients in Zi Xiu Tang most notably bee pollen.
Because bee pollen has absolutely no weight loss effects – here is my original review of Zi Xiu Tang bee pollen
At first, I could not explain the weight loss people were seeing with this supplement. One commenter on my first Zi Xiu Tang review said he lost 13 pounds in 1 month! Now I know why…
How Does Zi Xiu Tang Work?
Thanks to a friend who sent me a bottle of these so called slimming capsules I can tell you that bee pollen is NOT the active ingredient in Zi Xiu Tang.
Zi Xiu Tang is a laxative!
I know this is true because several of the ingredients in Zi Xiu Tang have laxative effects. I suspected this because many websites selling Zi Xiu Tang use the word “cleanse”. Cleanse is the alternative medicine term for laxative.
Probably the most famous ingredient in Zi Xiu Tang is senna. Senna is a not a weight loss supplement. Senna is a laxative. Senna is also classified by the FDA as a non-prescription over the counter laxative drug.
Several other ingredients as you will see also act as laxatives.
Zi Xiu Tang Side effects
If you have experienced Zi Xiu Tang side effects please see my review of side effects and let me know if you experimented anything not listed.
Zi Xiu Tang Ingredients Label
Even if you wear eye glasses you will find it very difficult to read the ingredients in Zi Xiu Tang. The Zi Xiu Tang bottle and box abounds with decorative Chinese art and characters which ma
kes reading the ingredients VERY difficult. The red lettering of the ingredients makes it doubly hard to read. I had trouble even when I held the bottle up to a lamp! So, to save you the trouble, I’ve listed the ingredients here.
Zi Xiu Tang Full Ingredients List
Here is the entire list of ingredients in Zi Xiu Tang.
- Bee Pollen
- Chinese Yam
- Barbary Wolfberry Fruit
- Lotus Seed
- Dietary Fiber
- Green tea
- Rhubarb
- Aloe
- Cassia
- Astrigillis
- Polygonum multiflorum
- Lotus leaf
- Gynostemme
- Radish seed
- Malt
- Mulberry
- Hawthorn,
- “Vitamins”
Notice the first 4 ingredients are not weight loss herbs. I’ve already covered these ingredients in my first Zi Xiu Tang review. Let’s now talk about all the other ingredients.
Zi Xiu Tang Ingredients and Side Effects
Senna. Senna is a laxative. Because Zi Xiu Tang contains senna, it’s possible that the same side effects from using too much senna may be seen in those who take Zi Xiu Tang. The side effects can include,
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal cramping gas / bloating
- Flatulence
- Dizziness
Because of diarrhea, products like Zi Xiu Tang that contain senna may in extreme cases cause excessive loss of electrolytes. This can lead to muscle weakness and maybe heart problems. This is because electrolytes are needed for muscle contraction and the heart is a muscle.
People using heart / blood pressure medications should not use senna-containing supplements or products that have similar laxative effects.
To highlight what can happen with senna overdose, there is a case report of a women who developed liver failure after long term use of senna tea.
In this report, the women was drinking a liter of senna tea that contained 70 grams (2.5 oz) of senna fruit. Even with this amount, it took 3 years before liver failure presented itself. This is worth mentioning because everybody is different and people often think “more is better” which isn’t always true.
Unlike the laxative effect of fiber, senna is a non-fiber laxative. It works differently to relieve constipation. One of the ingredients in Senna is a class of compounds called anthranoids which exert laxative effects by causing damage to cells of the colon. Because of this, some have speculated that long term use of senna, may increase the risk of cancer
Because senna supplements have not been studied for long term use it is hard to say if this is true or not.
Senna products should be avoided in people who have
- Hemorrhoids
- Heart disease / Blood pressure issues
- Abdominal pain
- Bowel obstructions
- Pregnant or nursing mothers (for obvious reasons)
- Diabetics
In theory, long term use of senna supplements may make it harder to defecate as the person becomes dependant on the product.
People who take Zi Xiu Tang may notice that the color of their urine looks pink or rust colored. This is due to the senna (and polygonum multiflorum, discussed below) and is not dangerous.
Update: In 2010 Senna was apparently removed from Zi Xiu Tang. Some people report that their bowel movements are less while others report no change. See the comments for more information.
Cassia. Zi Xiu Tang also contains Cassia. While the word cassia is sometimes used to describe the spice, cinnamon, I don’t think this is how they are using the word because cassia can also be another name for senna.
Both of cassia and senna are listed separately on the Zi Xiu Tang label; cassia appears first, followed by senna. Both words are sometimes used together (“cassia senna”). Other names for cassia senna are Cassia acutifola, and Cassia angustifolia.
If cassia on the Zi Xiu Tang label refers to cassia senna then this too is a laxative and likely works synergistically with senna to promote a greater laxative effect.
Green Tea. Zi Xiu Tang also contains green tea. Because green tea contains caffeine, it’s theoretically possible that the caffeine may slightly raise metabolism. This is likely why the Zi Xiu Tang says “increase metabolism” and “increase energy” on the front of the display box. The box does not say how much caffeine is in Zi Xiu Tang.
Rhubarb. Zi Xiu Tang contains Rhubarb which also has laxative effects. It may also have estrogen-like effects. Rhubarb may act synergistically with senna and cassia to cause a greater laxative effect.
Aloe. Zi Xiu Tang contains aloe as well. Aloe juice also has a laxative effect however the bottle does not say if Zi Xiu Tang contains aloe juice or not.
Astragalus. Like all herbs there are many types of Astragalus. Often used to treat the common cold, this herb does not seem to have any laxative effect. As for astragalus side effects, in large amounts (about 1 ounce, which is likely more than is in Zi Xiu Tang) this herb may increase the immune system which, while good for some can also be bad for others like those with some immune system disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Polygonum multiflorum. This is an herb also known as Fo-Ti. Some research notes Polygonum multiflorum has a mild laxative effect. At least 7 case reports have noted liver problems including hepatitis resulting from use/misuse of this herb.
Other reports hint that Polygonum multiflorum might alter blood sugar levels (that may be bad for diabetics).
On a side note, Polygonum multiflorum may also be found in supplements designed to lower cholesterol; research suggests that extracts may lower cholesterol and increase HDL. More research is needed to confirm this.
Gynostemma. Some websites say this herb can both cause both weight loss and weight gain. In this respect Gynostemma, might be classified as an adaptogen. An adaptogen is a non-medical term used in some circles to describe how a supplement “adapts” to your needs. Websites also claim that gynostemma has laxative effects.
Radish Seed. I could not locate any weight loss effects of this ingredient.
Malt: I could not locate any weight loss effects of this ingredient.
Mulberry. This contains fiber which acts as a laxative.
Hawthorn. Warning! People who take medications for high blood pressure or a heart condition should not use hawthorn or supplements containing Hawthorn. Hawthorn does influence the way the heart pumps. This means hawthorn can interact with your heart or blood pressure medications.
Vitamins. Zi Xiu Tang lists “vitamins” but does not indicate which vitamins it contains.
Zi Xiu Tang Laxative Supplement Summary
To recap, here are the ingredients in Zi Xiu Tang that are laxatives
- Senna
- Cassia
- Rhubarb
- Aloe (if it contains Aloe juice)
- Polygonum multiflorum
- Gynostemma
- Mulberry
Zi Xiu Tang Warning Label
If you read the label of Zi Xiu Tang you see this warning of who should not use the product (I’m quoting them verbatim):
“Not Suitable For:
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. People who suffer from either, liver, kidney, Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure. Adolescents, Elderly, Depression people or Anyone with bee or pollen allergies.”
So, will Zi Xiu Tang work? For some the answer is yes. But, that’s because Zi Xiu Tang is basically a laxative. To be safe, people with medical problems should see their doctor before using Zi Xiu Tang.
Have you experienced any side effects from Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen supplements?

Finished all my pills. In the end, I lost a total of five pounds. Now I weigh a total of 150lbs! Not too bad over a course of one week haha! I don’t plan on buying these again though since I am better off changing my diet in a more nutritional way…. Good luck to all
Hey, Joe I was so upset about the pills but I think I had a bad batch. Plus i wasn’t taking in the correct water intake in which is important to lose the weight. I email a really nice
lady Queen Bee that’s taking these pills she offered to send me a bottle of hers. So i could see if they worked. She was the one that me to increase my water intake I’ll let you know what happens. thanks for you response
So are you saying that we would be better off simply buying over the counter laxatives?
Mrsd, I’m not saying anything of the sort. At the very least, adding laxatives to weight loss supplements is a cheap trick. At worst, its potentially dangerous.
I wrote my zxt reviews so people would know the real facts behind this supplement.
Hi, I’ve been taking these pills and I was looking at my box as I was reading your article. My box has no cassia or senna as any of the ingredients and the vitamins listed are all B vitamins. Also under the warning label for who should take these pills differs from the one you have listed above. Is it possible that they eliminated cassia and senna completely from the pills?
Hi Amanda, yes you are right. A few months ago senna and cassia appear to have been taken out of zxt.
I have been taking ZXT for about two months on and off. I am not a fan of meds so I only take them M-F which also makes them last longer. I am now on my 2nd bottle and have lost about 23lbs. I no longer feel bloated or heavy I have gone from a size 16 to a 14 with plenty of room to spare. I do not have any real side effects other than thirst, I do not feel that I am never hungry but they definitely curve my appetite so much that I am hungry but can’t eat much. I still crave sweets, as a mom, student and I work full time I do not often spend time lounging and am usually on the go. I plan to add exercise and continue to watch what I consume to see how the weight loss goes. I see some people have been on these pills for almost a year and I do not anticipate doing that I really just wanted a jump start to get down to wear I am comfortable and able to get incorporate more exercise into my life without the heavy sluggish feel.
Hi Joe, just wanted to let everyone know that apparently the new batch of zxt created in feb 15 2011 is suppose to be more effective. Not only did they increase the dosage and modified the instructions but they also claim to have more effective procedures being used to refine the ingredients. Also I noticed on the site, that the picture of the house has a big “contains no Sibutramine” label on the front of the box.
Idk if there really was a secret ingredient that they took out but has added it back, as far as I can tell the ingredients have not changed.
Maybe they increased the amount per ingredient, idk because there are no gram or percentage amount listed.
I have no clue what is going on.
Mia thanks for letting me know. Id like to know what ingredients they are making more refined.
That’s interesting that ZXT would state it contains no Sibutramine (Meridia). Wonder why they singled out Meridia?
I saw on the world news last night that Alli might be pulled from the market now. some people are getting liver damage
Hi Joe, it’s true that the new Zi Xiu Tang now says “no Sibutramine” in a big red bubble on the top right hand corner of the box and the bottle. It now also says you must take 2 in the morning, AND one before sleep.
Everything else seems to be the same when it comes to ingredients, or so the box/bottle says. What do you think of this? I did research on sibutramine and I saw that a lot of the side effects you get from it match the side effects people get from Zi Xiu Tang like dry mouth, dizziness, restlessness, frequent urination/bowel movement.
I have read reviews that these new pills they make now with no sibutramine work, while other people say it does not work.
Chrlene, it could be that Sibutramine (Meridia) might be the drug that responsible for the weight loss effects of zxt. There is still no word from the FDA about the batch they are testing.
The fact that zxt is singling out Sibutramine makes me think that Sibutramine was found in ZXT at some point. If not, why else would they say “contains no Sibutramine”?
Meridia (Sibutramine) has been banned from the US market because it increases the risk of strokes. If zxt has Sibutramine, it would also increase stroke risk.
The fact that the zxt company is specifically making reference to Sibutramine really concerns me. I STRONGLY urge everyone to stop taking zxt right now.
My mom has been trying to get me to take zxt for months now, even offering to buy me four months worth. I’m a huge biology nerd, and I remember my favorite college professor telling me that if ever there was a safe, effective, weight loss drug, it would be world-wide news; I think this is why I strongly distrust medications like these. I’m really glad I found this article, giving me reasons not to take it. My mom is in her early 50′s and is arguing with me, stating that zxt is ‘all natural!’ so it “can’t hurt you”. She’s been taking it for a few months, and swears by it. I really wish I had better ground to stand on, more facts, more biology.
Thanks a lot.
Hi Kari
Im a bio nerd too. You can tell your mom that being natural does not always mean being safe.
quicksand is natural
lighting’s is natural
cyanide is natural
you stand on much more firm ground than you think. you are standing on the ground of science – and it can withstand the weight the entire universe
Hi everyone I started using this product two weeks ago, after witnessing my friend transformation going from size 10 to size 2, in less then 6 months. This person is a 48 yr old female, no health issues, not on any medication, just loves to eat. I witnessed this person laying on her couch, eating a pint of ice cream, while on ZXT. NO excursive, no dieting, ate whatever she desired. I can’t stand how SKINNY she has become, she looks 20 yrs younger, her body looks AMAZING!!! That was enough proof for me to give this product a chance…..it’s been two weeks, so far nothing. I will try for three months if I get good results , I will let everyone know.
Well, I have been taking zxt for one week now with no ill effects or weight loss. BM’s were fairly regular before zxt now they have actually slowed to the point of constipation. I drink plenty of water and my appetite has been curbed a bit which really helps me late at night. So far I’m not impressed. I am a fairly active 44 yr old female weighing 153 lbs with a goal of 20 pounds to loose. My eating habits are good not perfect but good. I think I just have to get up off my behind and exercise to help seed up my metabolism. My supply of zxt is authentic. I will update in one week’s time see if there have been any changes.
Hi Joe,
I got my Zi Xiu Tang pills from e-bay and they really curbed my appetite. I felt a little weird in the head, but it was a tradeoff. I had to force myself to eat, that’s how suppressed my interest in food was. My bowel movements were good and felt like everything was moving along nicely. My clothes were fitting me much looser and the scale was going down steadily. I went from 170 to 153ish in no time. Then I learned there were fake pills and I made sure I got authentic pills for the next purchase, even if it meant paying more. I must say, with the “real” pills, my appetite was not as suppressed and i noticed dry mouth terribly. Granted, I may not have been drinking as much as recommended, but I have been experiencing a mouth awareness, like grinding my teeth and just a different feeling in my mouth. I stopped taking the pills, but I was very happy with the fake ones from e-bay. Any comments?
Susan, its hard to say what is in the zxt you got from ebay. I am concerned that you said you felt “weird in the head”. can you explain more what happened?
I tried these as well and noticed the same “mouth awareness”…kind of like what I have seen on TV of more serious drug users of a continual jaw movement, almost a grinding motion of the jaw but with out the actual tooth to tooth friction. I quit taking for a month, restarted and noticed the same thing happened again…now I am completely done with these and would not take again. I did drop 15 lbs. in a month but at what cost to my body and overall health. Vanity isn’t worth it, in my opinion.
I started taking these pills in February and was sooo excited that I lost 9 lbs the first week! After I finished the first month I noticed with the second bottle that I was not losing weight as quickly and also noticed that I would go up a couple lbs then a couple days later go down a few again.
At this point I got REALLY frustrated! I started to watch what I was eating and taking walks with my friends. I lost a total of another 7 lbs OFF the pills in a couple of weeks. 2 weeks ago I started following the “Body For Life” book and I am currently down a total of 25 lbs! I also walk 2 miles 3-4 days a week!
So as someone who of course wants to “wake up skinny” I have to say, I hope your reviews encourage more people to put the pill bottles AND the ice cream down and change your exercise and eating habits to accomplish what you want!!!!! Good Luck to ALL!!
Joe, You wanted me to elaborate on the feeling I got in my head, well i can describe it as a little fuzzy feeling, almost a slight bit high and it wasn’t constant. The best part of taking the so called fake pills from China, before I learned how to detect them, was my total lack of interest in food. I had to force myself to eat and I did no snacking.
I chewed my food more thoroughly and felt like I was in total control. I ate to live instead of living to eat. Like I said before, i switched to the “real” pills and didn’t have the same strong reactions like the ones from china, namely good bathroom voiding and lack of appetite. Maybe the ones from China were ok and the people in the U.S. wanted to reap more of the profits. Comments?
Susan thanks for elaborating. Its hard to say what is going on with ZXT these days in that some people now are saying the authentic stuff doesn’t work and that the counterfeit stuff sometimes does. I think its all the result of a lack of quality control and as you say, some who want to make more money. God knows what they are putting into the stuff.
Hello,
I took the pills back in August of 2010 for about 2 months. I lost about 15 pounds and thought I found the miracle pill. I also had the “weird in the head” feelings but I would just drink more water and eat something and they would gradually fade. I did get more frequent headaches but the weight that was coming off, I didn’t mind dealing with the headaches. I went off the pills for a couple months and then decided to try them again. I bought from the same dealer yet this batch did not work at all.
I now see the pills being sold under the name ZTU Gold bee pollen pills, the name being changed slightly and in new packaging. Just wondering if anyone has any idea what is going on?
Hi, I contacted the person I buy my product from regarding how people are complaining about the lack of results and also asked about the FDA checking the product out. Following are 2 different responses that I received. I thought I’d pass them along as an FYI.
“As for the FDA they actually did pull the product back in the beginning of Feb they tested it and have now cleared the product for purchasing. That is another reason why the boxes and bottles have been updated with a label that says Contains No Sibutrimine, so we were really glad to hear that.”
“I forgot to send your invoice, I apologize. However in the interim we received updated information concerning the supplements from our distributor. In receiving feedback from clients we have determined that the current version of the supplement works best for those that are new to the product.
Clients that have used the supplements before or been on them for awhile and are used to the effects of it are the ones that seem to have adverse results.
With the current version it is necessary to take the 3 pills as recommended by the manufacturer in order to achieve an optimal result and it is necessary to eat more fiber, fruits, and vegetables to keep the bowels moving freely. Where as before No changes in your eating habits were needed to experience a result. I thought it would be good to give you this info first before you purchase so you can decide if you still want to purchase it.
We have been assured the product is being improved. We expect shipment of the new improved product by the end of the month. Because the manufacturer has decided not to provide sample we will provide them ourselves to our clients, so they can try the product again before buying….”
Hi Joe,
I haven’t lost any weight but I HAVE lost inches and I feel more energetic using these pills. I work out and eat right, so I am very curious to why I haven’t lost weight since you’ve outlined, and I’ve felt, the laxative effects of this product.
My main reason for continuing use of these pills, though, is the CONSIDERABLE improvement in my skin!!! I do NOT really want to take something to help me lose weight, especially because of the laxative-like risks you’ve outlined in this review, but these pills clear my skin SO WELL!
My question to you is three-fold: What is the key ingredient responsible for my clear skin (fyi I have brown skin and I suffer from hyper-pigmentation, which has improved drastically due to these pills), what can I take as an alternative that will help my skin, and does this ingredient also have laxative-like risks associated to it?
I’ve used this product in the past and when I stopped using it, my skin always started to dull and change back to how it was before I started using these pills. Do you think it will hurt to use them long-term?
Tahisha, its hard to say what the long term effects of zi xiu tang are. Nobody has tested it in humans in a clinical study. I have not heard of any body dying or being rushed to the hospital after taking zxt so in that respect I dont think its super bad in healthy people.
As for the active ingredient for the skin I am not sure but I have read some zxt websites say its the lotus leaf . Have you talked to a dermatologist about natural alternatives for skin? I am not sure of the answer to your question (I’ll do some digging for you in the near future) . if you find an answer I would appreciate you letting me know.
Joe…Vitamin E is rumored to be in it…and taking vitamin E has been shown in a few studies to have a benefit to clear skin and healthier hair / nail growth… it could be something as simple as that.
alternative to taking zxt …not herbal but safer…buy pre-natal vitamins…the vitamins do wonderful things for clearing skin, healthier / shinier hair , helps hair and nail growth. plus you don’t have all the nasty side effects.
Doubt there is any real studies supporting this…I have not seen any…but ask any woman who took them during pregnancy…the ingredients aid that “glow” we get. ( walmart carries spring valley brand for 100ct for 4.00)
S, thanks for the update. You told me some things I had not heard before. It’s interesting they are saying to eat more fruits and veggies as opposed to “eat anything you want”.
Hi everyone,
I used to take Zi Xiu Tang Beauty Face & Figure Capsules (original formula) last year it worked wonders! But this new formula is not working for me at all. Has anyone tried the products from FN (ZXT Bee Pollen Capsules or ZXT Gold Bee Pollen Capsules?) What are the differences between these products and do they work?
Thank you all
Ariel, Ive never heard of Gold Zi Xiu Tang but there does seem to be a difference between “ZXT” and Zi Xiu Tang. a zi xiu tang distributor has told me they are not the same. see the comments at my “zi xiu tang distributor challenge”
http://supplement-geek.com/zi-xiu-tang-distributer-challange/
Heather, Joe
Thank you both for the info. I wonder though if taking prenatal pills would give you an effect that would be more favorable for pregnant women. Also, I doubt I could take these long term, as well. I will have to do some research on the ingredients to see if they, too, would become harmful.
In the meantime, I might continue to use ZXT, but i don’t know. Thanks for the info in this site Joe. I’m glad I looked for the cons of this pill so that I can effectively weigh the risks vs the rewards!
Some tend to just read the side panel or “good” reviews without acknowledging the potential risks. Like you said, natural doesn’t always mean safe!
Hi to all of you.. i have been reading some of your comments and to be honest i am confused. There is a new bottle that says “no sibutramine”, does this mean that the tablet works more or less than the other tablets? or does zi xiu tang work at all? can somebody give me the real answer. thanks
Joe,
Since I’m really interested in these pills i did a lil research on polygonum multiflorum which u say might alter blood sugar levels cause I’m diabetic n it says it actually helps persons with diabetes also the ingredient hawthorn i dont have high blood pressure but i read it helps control high blood pressure n doesn’t affect it like u stated but I’m confused cause the container also says people w/diabetes or high blood pressure shouldn’t take em i have an appointment w/ my dr next week ima take the container so he can tell me if im able to take em n ill let u guys know if anyone w/ diabetes or high blood pressure has taken these pills please let me know how did u feel n if they worked
Thank You
Nicole,
because hawthorn can change the way the heart pumps it may alter blood pressure. As for polygonum multiflorum, where are you getting your information from? I rely heavily on scientific research and logic and tend to steer clear from other websites. When it comes to supplements made overseas, I am doubly cautious because I do not know how they supplements are made or if anything is in the product which is not listed on the label.
Joe…an update…I am still having minor side affects of it even though off for a while…and the symptoms indicate damage to my liver and kidneys as result of the pills. Was at hospital yesterday (11 tubes of blood and urinalysis done). will have results after my followup appointment on 31st.
continuing symptoms -
dry mouth – constant water drinking to fix ended up with over doing it and flooding my cells…
light tan – paste look stools….indicative of liver damage (severity is being checked)
constant chilled feeling…indicative of damage to thyroid
this is from 3 month (90 day) use of these pills. Anyone on it longer…get in to see doc and ask for full blood panel. Anyone thinking about it….my doc knows about these pills and according to her, she is hearing of cases of kidney and liver damage after prolonged use (she started researching this when I started taking it- had not heard of it prior)
Heather, oh my goodness! I had no idea that was going on with you. I hope you are doing ok and able to get around. I’m glad you are keeping monitored by your doctor. Do keep me posted!
I have been on the pills for I think 4 months now and besides the first week or two, i have not had any dry mouth, loose stools, or any other side effect. I have lost 50 lbs in total.
Went from a size 16 to a size 6 now. I’ve actually never felt better. I’ve stopped taking it for a couple weeks twice when I hit plateaus and never gained anything during that time and continued to lose as soon as I restarted taking them again.
I am suppose to be done taking them now since I don’t need to lose anymore but its been a part of my routine for so long that I’m uneasy at the thought of stopping. I am amazed at the fact that I dropped 50 lbs so fast when I originally thought it was an impossible feat.
I have not had blood work done but I can say this was the first winter I did not catch a single illness which is amazing in my house with 5 kids lol. I have had my blood pressure checked though and it has always been good.
joe
Hi to all of you.. i have been reading some of your comments and to be honest i am confused. There is a new bottle that says “no sibutramine”, does this mean that the tablet works more or less than the other tablets? or does zi xiu tang work at all? can somebody give me the real answer. thanks
Hi to everyone. I want to purchase these pills just to kick start my way to losing 30 lbs that have to come off. Some of the comments confuse me, some scare me, and Jennifer (right above me ) had the most assuring comment, lol. Jennifer wherever you purchased your batch please let me know. Im not looking to take these long term just something as an addition to what Im already doing.
Audrey, for every Jennifer, there is a Heather (see above). Which one will you be nobody knows.
Jennifer…
My blood pressure was 119 / 75. I did not have any major illness over the winter, and I travel internationally 4-6 times a year and tend to pick up a bit of everything from airports but did not this year. My skin normally breaks out 3-4 days a month and has not since I had started taking it..
I was feeling slightly “off”. not my normal self. went to the doctors and found in talking with her…a list of major symptoms that I would have written off normally as not a big deal. (and I should know better as I do study medicine) Unless you have the blood work and other tests…you do NOT know the damage this does to your body.
Liver and kidney damage is normal with these pills from what my doctor has learned. My stools are not loose. they are discolored. BIG difference. Discoloration is indicative of liver issues. I also lost some weight while on it. and the issues this causes to your body are gradual. not over night appearances. My doc told me if I wasnt in great shape, this could have been worse.
We are still waiting the results and I received notice of another test scheduled about this in the teleretinal imager clinic. That makes 11 tubes of blood, 1 urine, 2 ultrasounds, 1 teleretinal…to check damage caused. There is not issue of IF damage caused. There is issue of HOW SEVERE. Have a doctor do a full blood panel. Unless you do that, you can not say it has not affected you adversely.
Oh so there’s a chance that it could possibly kill me?
@Heather: if you still come here I would like to ask what pre-existing illnesses or comorbidities did you have? familial risk factors of any kind? how often were you taking the pills (90 days but how many times a day ?) were u taking them with any other kinds of pills? what was your water intake and output while taking the pills? are you or anyone in your family a slow acetylator?
Joe, Heather said prolonged use, 3 months. I don’t really need them that long…I mean 30 days tops.
@Audrey my pre-existing is a 2nd degree av node block. A slow growth ground-glass lesion in right lung (7.5mm currently) with several 2-3mm size nodules also in right lung (cause is known- stay out of 3rd world countries if not necessary
), treatment is monitoring with chem ct and thallium stress test every 3 months to watch growth rate and effect on my heart for the compensating). frequent migraines since childhood. seasonal asthma triggered by extreme heat / cold. My health stats before were 80/60 bp avg, 45-50 resting pulse, 98o2 level avg, all levels otherwise healthy. familial traits = diabetes / heart conditions though my a1c avg is 5.0 (mother, maternal g.m, aunts, female cousins, 1 uncle of 5) , hypoglycemia / uterine cancer (paternal g.m & great g.m).
2 zxt pills in morning only as directed by company.
no other medications besides Excedrin migraine as needed and doxepine 25mg as sedative to sleep at night (2-3 times a week), and rescue inhaler 2-3 times a year.
water intake was 3 cases of 16.9oz bottles per 7 days (i do shopping on Sunday and was only one drinking them in my household).
Health wise before this? my stats? 5’7 31 waist. …Joe has access to me away from this blog and can attest that I was by no means obese…this was taken as an experiment to see if it worked. along lines of a private study… now 28 waist and waiting to see how much damage was caused. Before this even though heart / lung issue sounds dramatic…it is not. with monitoring my heart rate and knowing my limits, I was on no med’s for my heart. no med’s beyond rescue inhaler (used avg 2-3 times a year) for my breathing, and I have always watched what I ate strictly as every female on my mothers side was insulin dependent by age 21 except me. prior to starting this…there were no medications except ones listed …for a 1 year time frame. My doctor was aware of my starting it and had taken full blood panel at start, and monthly as I was on it. Residual effects are causing issues. My levels were declining slowly…however, being off the pills has not halted the decline. I will know exact results on the 31st.
1st lab results before starting = my results read as textbook perfect…everything within ranges supposed to be..picture of health before taking zxt.

Hello Heather,
I read your message in which you state that you take the anti depressant Doxepin. I am positive your doctor didn’t blame your current health conditions on this medicine. Instead, he blamed Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen Capsules. Please read below what will happen if you stop taking this antidepressant.
Doxepin Withdrawal Symptoms May Include:
aggression, anxiety, balance issues , blurred vision, brain zaps, concentration impairment, constipation, crying spells, depersonalization, diarrhea, dizziness. electric shock sensations, fatigue, flatulence, flu-like symptoms, hallucinations, hostility, highly emotional, indigestion, irritability, impaired speech, insomnia, jumpy nerves, lack of coordination, lethargy, migraine headaches / increased headaches, nausea, nervousness, over-reacting to situations, paranoia, repetitive thoughts or songs, sensory & sleep disturbances, severe internal restlessness (akathasia), stomach cramps, tremors, tinnitus (ear ringing or buzzing), tingling sensations, troubling thoughts, visual hallucinations / illusions, vivid dreams, speech visual changes, worsened depression
Doxepin (Sinequan, Aponal, Adapin, Deptran, Sinquan, Silenor))
Sinequan (Doxepin) is a tricyclic antidepressant prescribed for depression and anxiety that exerts its influence on Serotonin and Norepinephrine.
It was synthesized by a German pharmaceutical and tested from 1963-1968 in various German and Swiss psychiatric institutions before being approved in Germany. Using Sinequan chronically during pregnancy can cause withdrawal symptoms in the newborn with agitation, impaired cardio-respiratory functions, disturbed urination and defecation. Sinequan is found in significant amounts in the milk of lactating women. Sinequan make cause withdrawal symptoms if treatment is abruptly discontinued. Tapering is recommended to minimize symptoms.
Julie, Did you also read that I take it in a 25mg dose as needed as sedative 2-3 times per week? …And I notice you are quick to jump on that without asking the time I have been using it nor have you asked if I have stopped taking to cause reactions? Julie…Read back further and you will notice that I started taking zxt as experiment.
I have every blood panel result over the 3 months I was on it…1 monthly. Being that I do have a heart lung issue …I also have before this, blood panel results every 3 months going back 2.5 years… Before you blame a medication that you do not seem to know much about….maybe you should have asked for more details.
Yes those are common side effects of someone taking 100mg dose or higher daily. That is NOT the case with me NOR ever was. Stop trying to say it is not zxt fault. it was traced back to the zxt as I TOOK IT TO SEE EFFECTS. I did not take it to lose 50 pounds. I did not use it to help a diet.
Distributors trying to cover their butts are the worst. your so concerned about your bottom line…but you should be more worried about the clients you sell to, as if they get ill from these pills…they will no longer be your clients.
Hi Joe
I have read both of your reviews about Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen, and I figured it was time to contribute to this ongoing discussion. I took the capsules about a year ago for a period of 10-12 weeks in order to lose 20 lbs.
They worked wonderfully, with some minor side effects. Most noticeable were dry mouth, dizziness, and restlessness. I had an occasional headache, but when I remained properly hydrated the side effects were minimal.
I recently decided to take the Bee Pollen again (in preparation for swimsuit season)… I was only looking to lose a few pounds to get myself motivated, and restart my more active summer lifestyle including healthy eating.
I noticed the indication on the label that Zi Xui Tang “Contains: No Sibutramine”, so I too decided to research this claim a little further. As one of your other posters had pointed out, many of the side effects of Sibutramine are similar, if not the same, as the side effects of the Bee Pollen capsules.
To be quite honest, I was several weeks into my bottle before I looked up the information… and what had really driven me was the fact that I noticed this new batch did not perform anything like the old batch I had taken.
The ingredients have definitely changed. However, I would like to point out that the capsules had amazing results on my allergies, sinuses, and my immunity… I had about a dozen left over from last year, so over the winter, when I felt I needed a boost, or felt a cold coming on, I would take them along with my multivitamin and Echinacea, and the combination worked wonders! (Much better than the vitamin and Echinacea alone)
I have also found my seasonal allergies to be much milder during the last 2 springs while taking the capsules, even though the pollen count has been extremely high in my region. Any explanation for that?
I just read Heather’s comments, and they look terribly frightening. I would suggest that anyone who is interested in taking the pills check with their doctor or a trusted medical expert first (a step we typically do not take, although we are constantly encouraged to do so)… I would like to point out that my mother-in-law took these pills for 90 days or so last summer/fall. She has several medically monitored conditions (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.) and checked with her doctor first. He said it was ok to take them and that they would not effect her current medication or conditions!?! This winter, she had her bloodwork done, and EVERYTHING has improved. The pills helped her shed atleast 25 pounds of excess weight, they helped her become more active, and her cholesterol levels and blood pressure have stabilized.
I think it is true that for every “Jennifer” there is a “Heather”, so I just wanted to share that story, and encourage everyone to check with their doctor and pay attention to what your body is telling you.
joe
Hi to all of you.. i have been reading some of your comments and to be honest i am confused. There is a new bottle that says “no sibutramine”, does this mean that the tablet works more or less than the other tablets? or does zi xiu tang work at all? can somebody give me the real answer. thanks
Some one please be honest about zi xiu tang
Hi ya’ll,
i had posted a while ago looking for anyone with long-term side effects. It turned out the ones I was experiencing were just from acid-reflux. It had nothing to do with the ZXT.
My real issue now is that I have been taking the pills for over a year, and just got the “new” batch, and they don’t work. period. Does anyone know where to get the original formula??? I’m desperate, and gaining back the weight…..
PLEASE HELP.
Yari, While I have never had any proof, Ive always felt that zi xiu tang worked because it contained senna and other laxative ingredients as well as some undeclared ingredient, maybe sibutramine (miridia).
When I first head the zi xiu tang company was saying “no sibutramine”, I started to wonder why they choose to specifically mention sibutramine; Did it once have sibutramine I wondered? I don’t know. The product has changed. We know they removed the senna (which I applaud them for) but I think senna alone would not give some of the side effects people were reporting.
All that said, I understand your frustration but I do not feel any zi xiu tang distributor can guarantee that their product will work.
I understand your desperation and the good thing is that you recognize that you are gaining weight. The good news is that you are not powerless. You can take action to slow it down.
See what else -besides taking a pill- you can do to reduce your gaining weight. take a walk? eat smaller portion sizes? dont eat past 8PM? weight yourself every day to give feedback on your progress?
I don’t know what your doing but its just a suggestion if you have not considered it. I know its hard. I’m not going to say its not and I do not want to diminish the stress you are undoubtedly feeling over this. I do know that trying to take other steps will be healthier in the long run than taking zi xiu tang .
Thanks Joe but i think u confused me with Amy, i am not gaining weight though, i have lost 12 pounds in 3 months and 3 sizes in pants. So am happy for now, i have not gain any weight since i stopped it. BUT i do have some friends that are taking the new batch and i needed someone to tell me if it works?
Yari, you need someone to tell you if it works? After reading the above? This is a *dangerous* supplement.
How about this? Eat less. Eat proper food, not junk. Exercise more.
There you go, you don’t need any supplement.
Good news – I emailed the distributor that I have been getting the product from for the last year. They told me that they have a few boxes of the 2009 version left (which was pretty hardcore I gather) and they have recently developed a new ZXT like product that has the same high level of detox that the original ZXT formula had – and now doesn’t. I am assuming this new product contains senna, because while I asked about it specifically, they wouldn’t answer – but implied that it did. If anyone would like my contact I’d be happy to give it to you.
Amy, I know the lure of fast weight loss is appealing but this is not a company I trust – esp when they “imply” the product has certain ingredients but dont come out and say it. Still sounds like a crap shoot to me.
Have you read the comments by Heather about the health issues she has had? Even if she is one out of a million, her problems are very significant. If people want to contact the zixiutang company themselves thats fine. They are easy to find on the internet
amy i want ur contact
plz my email is yaribpc@gmail.com
When I started taking Zi Xiu Tang in March 2010 I weighted 230 lbs, I’m 5’9″ and 46 years old (at the time), no previous medical conditions, no other meds. For the first 2 months I had constant loose bowel movements several times a day. This was uncomfortable but i wanted it to work, so I stayed with it.
In October of 2010 I passed a kidney stone and my son begged me to stop taking it, but I did not. having now lost 30 lbs and many inches, I was hooked. I ran out of it in March of 2011 and couldn’t afford to buy more.
In April, I started having abdominal pain in several areas and sometimes severe. The Doctor diagnosed two hernias. I can’t help but wonder if the pills had anything to do with the weakening of my stomach muscles, or if any intestinal damage has been done. Loved the results, wish I could keep going with them, but now I’m very afraid.
amy is your distributor is Floyd nutrition and their new product is what you are referring to, it does not work. i tried a sample, and it has done nothing but make me feel my heart was about to bust out of my chest
I really am starting to think that this whole weight loss thing is a mind matter. I sent my sister some of the senna free zi xiu tang, that i thought didn’t work. However, she went from 221 to 206 in like 2 months! she also exercised and changed her eating. I am not sure if because the people that have experienced 5lbs a week weight loss on the old zi xiu tang pills, are not satisfied because you have to actually put some effort with the new pills.
But apparently it does work, even if it just mentally made my sister feel like it was doing something.
in my opinion, weight loss can be achieved with diet and exercise either way. Maybe we all need to step back and reevaluated.
now in my situation, someone mentioned why no weight loss supplement including prescribed ones has worked from me, is because I had my gallbladder removed. When i think about it, i was losing weight before then, now I cannot seem to lose weight at all.
even the old formula of zi xiu tang did not keep me in the bathroom like others. So maybe there is something going on there.
everyone including myself am looking for the quick fix, maybe the quickest and inexpensive way is diet and exercise, calories in vs calories out.
Mia, I’ve never heard that lack of a gallbladder hinders weight loss.
Any did you contact the actual zi xiu tang company or Floyd Nutrition? Many people have been saying that the zi xiu tang from Floyd Nutrition is not working.
I have also found that the recent pills from Floyd nutrition dont work. I bought them from there last summer and those did work. I just got the ZXT gold samples. Has anyone tried those yet?
@Amy:
Please contact me at audreyh_21@yahoo.com
Okay… well.. I have been taking the bee pollen now for two weeks and I have actually gained 2.6lbs! How wonderful. Those of you who have lost weight so quickly.. I envy you! Someone explain THAT to me please!!
Good Morning All,
I sent a comment in around April after I received my second batch (90); and found they do not have the wording “no sibutrimine” and found they do not work as the original I purchased in January.
Started taking them again (May) to get rid of the pills, and they are still not working as before (and the packaging is the same).
The distributor in Va assured me they were the original. However, when you put in the code it says notify “Mr Tam” (really don’t know what that is all about). I will continue to take them until they are gone, with the help of watching what I eat, and some exercise. Which is the best I can do. Amy please send email about your distributor: wmpoe48@yahoo.com…Thanks.
Megan, I just replied to Nina – at my other zi xiu tang post – who also gained weight while taking zi xiu tang. As I said to Nina, I think its based on the fact that you cant guarantee that two bottles of zi xiu tang have the same ingredients. I don’t know whats in zi xiu tang or what they took out of it, but as you probably know, I have my suspicions.
WOOO! 40 pounds down…….I look great except for the anemia caused by liver and kidney damage, seriously people stay away from these pills weight loss is not as important as being healthy.
Kayla, did your doctor say zi xiu tang caused your liver and kidney damage?. Heather has also reported some liver issues (see my other zixiutang post for her comments). I hope you will be ok!!
My doctor said zi xiu tang was most likely the cause seeing that it’s the only supplement I’ve taken, and there’s nothing else that could possibly have caused it this fast, but she can’t really be sure because not all the ingredients are listed. But seeing as i don’t or have ever had any medical issues till after i started taking them seems pretty connected.
Hi Everyone,
I posted a comment on April 21st this is my follow up comment as promised. I stopped taking zi xiu tang after only 2 weeks. Initially I didn’t have much to report other than a bit of constipation as I continued taking zi xiu tang I started to suffer from constant headaches that would just not go away even with meds but the kicker for me was the feeling of being in a ‘fog’ maybe even a depression.
I just felt terrible…and to top it all off not one single ounce lost. I’m sorry the possible benefits didn’t outweigh side effects I was having. I definitely took Joe’s advice and stopped taking zi xiu tang, almost immediately my energy returned and the headaches went away.
For the record since stopping zi xiu tang I started to become more active, eat a little better and I have now currently lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks I know that’s not a lot but I definitely have peace of mind. Thanks everyone for your comments, good luck with your weight loss however way you choose to lose.
Cindy, thanks for the follow up and I am really glad you are making progress and feeling better
I was glad to read all the comments. Like others have posted, I too received the bottles with the label “no sibutramine. When was taking the original batch, I noticed I was feeling the cleanse affect within 2-3 days. I saw weight loss and increased energy levels within 1-2 weeks. I have been taking this batch for over a week now with nothing.
I was concerned that it may be counterfeit. But going on the website, I wasn’t able to read the confirmation in Chinese I translated the webpage, but couldn’t translate the pop-up window. Is it possible to still get the original batch?
To Amy…
Can you please send me your contact to farrah128@hotmail.com?
Thanks!!!!
Hi everyone. got my test results back. this is what is boils down to…
there are hairs within the intestinal track…these hairs have even smaller hairs. the hairs are essential as they absorb the nutrients in the foods you eat. zxt seems to have this effect: it removes the smaller hairs and makes so you’re not absorbing the nutrients.
it is also evident by the voiding 30-60 minutes after eating anything with refined sugars / greasy foods while taking it. it also has effect of boosting the metabolism and thyroid. that may seem like a good thing, but if your not taking any other supplements (daily, iron, calcium, etc…) your not getting what your body needs and will lose not just the fat but the muscle as well and result is muscle loss / fatigue / etc once your body burns off all that is not necessary.
my doc is running a duplicate battery of tests in 6 weeks. i stopped taking the pills months ago…i have lost another 12 pounds (give or take a few ounces) without exercise / diet / etc…which raises a concern of…if the boost to metabolism and thyroid occurred along with the striping of villi (hairs), can the hairs repair themselves in ALL cases so that once a person hit desired weight…they can stop taking pills without lasting damage. and what effects in long run to metabolism / thyroid will be seen?
those distributors who question this? I have the test results that back what i am saying as well as there is not 1 peer-reviewed clinical study on zxt. which means my doc tested me for every condition / disease she could think of including HIV, lyme disease, and malaria. (basically anything that affects the vital organ groups).
I have a 9 page packet of lab results in front of me with marked declines in everything. yes my cholest was lowered…BUT my good cholest was lowered as well. so was my folic acid levels, my calcium, my potassium, magnesium, etc…everything is on low side of range or lower then the acceptable low range.
for those looking to shed just a few pounds? its not worth it. for those looking to shed 50? talk to your doctor. do not take what me or others here (some of whom are distributors only looking at your wallet) say…call your doctor and ask them to run a full blood panel and monitor you throughout your taking of it. why take senseless chances with your health because a distributor claims it is safe, the distributor will not be the one to pick up your healthcare costs if you get sick from zxt. be smart about it.
Hi Amy,
can i get your contact?…thanks
thanks for the update heather. I see that the new and improved zi xiu tang is out and its 500 mg each pill. I am no longer interested in this. It just seems all to suspect. I also noticed the marketing going on in here. Its a shame since people need a place to see the negative side effects such as yours.
anyway, i am glad you are doing better.
Wow is all I can say at the moment. Does anyone know anything about the zi xiu tang pollen capsules that are written in all Chinese on the box? I was told that it was the original formula but I am not sure of anything any more. I think I should just think of another product to help me lose weight
@Mia Thanks…liver and kidneys were affected slightly…could have been a lot worse….at my stat’s (height / weight) I probably shouldn’t have tested it to begin with…was just concerned over my friends talking about eating everything but not needing to exercise…too good to be true i guess. ( I tend to guinea pig myself when I want to understand how something works).
From reading my results more in depth, it does seem to lower all the numbers…but…if you are low on things to start, it can be dangerous. Its why everyone should be getting the full blood panel before trying any new medicine / supplement. Unfortunately, most want quick results and do not want to worry about the long-term effect of it.
Joe and I are both now researching what could be in this that caused the failure for absorbing of nutrients. It is obvious that there is something in this that has not been disclosed, but for the life of me, I can not figure out what herb / mineral would do this…still checking pro-med and other sources though, and
I have a few calls out to some homeopathic and Asian herbalists hoping they might be able to point me in right direction. If this is something easily fixed…then great. if not? then it is a major issue as if a body stops absorbing nutrients, it starts feeding on itself.
Mia, i agree…this marketing thing is getting sickening…I wouldn’t be surprised if the “contact” isn’t the person themselves and a distributor preying on a research blogs followers is kind of low, IMO. I commend Joe for posting everyone’s comments and not editing us…but those taking advantage of his fairness shouldn’t be able to.
Anyway…if I learn of a countermeasure to the villi issue that then would make this safer, I will post it…until then, I am going back to my studies and playing with makeup in my free time. Take care everyone and be safe, or try to…
Unfortunately I think they ran out because they havent been getting back to me…
@Angela, you say “I think I should just think of another product to help me lose weight”.
Don’t you get it yet? These products are not the answer. To lose weight, you need to eat less, eat better, and exercise more.
That’s it. There is nothing more to it than that.
Hi, everyone. I’m looking for some answers to find out if this product is even worth it. I’ve tried many methods and it just seems like a scam. First, I got a Jan 2011 box from distributor that didn’t work. So, she stated that there was something going on where they removed Cassia & Senna & weren’t working correctly.
So, she stated Feb 2011 batch worked better even though they still didn’t have those ingredients. I took them and gained 3 lbs. If was frustrated and knew from all the comments & complaints that they were going thru some issues.
Did some research & found out ZXT thru Floyd nutrition changed manufacturer & had old product back. I bought 2 samples 12 days reg box 500 mg. It has a detoxifier and I have been going to bathroom like 2-3 a day, drinking lots of water but today is my 7th day and no weight loss.
They don’t work. Does anyone have same problems, can give me any suggestions? Are the Chinese box ones original, because I know some people taking those that have lost significant weight. Please let me know. Thanks.
I started taking the ZXT product and can say that it worked for me. I use to take Zi Xiu Tang and got the March 2011 bottle because I was told they fixed the issues that people were complaining about. Well after using Zi Xiu Tang for weeks I saw no change. I actually gained 3 pounds. The girl I got my caps from seemed to know her stuff so I said I would give it a try.
She actually told me why she stopped using zi xiu tang and sounded just like me and my situation. I have been on them for 6 days and have lost 4 lbs and feel ok. I have no complaints. I really feel sorry for those that I read about with the health issues but if I am not mistaken everyone should know to be checked out before any new product is introduced to the body. I dont go by other peoples testimonies in regards to health issues because every one is different and somethings people over exaggerate not saying any one here does that but that’s just my opinion.
Jeanette, some side effects are painless and others take time to crop up. You have only been taking it for six days and I am glad you feel fine right now but that may not be enough time to notice side effects. Hopefully none happen.
I respectively disagree what your statement “everyone should know to be checked out before any new product is introduced to the body” Supplements are marketed as “safe and natural”. Many people think they have no side effects.
Question. How many people on this list got checked out by their doctor before taking zi xiu tang?
Jeannette did you get checked out by your doctor before taking zi xiu tang?
I’m glad you are losing some weight and I hope you keep it off -and are free from side effects -after you run out of zi xiu tang. While I do believe in freedom of choice, I’ve removed your email from your post out of respect for your privacy and because I want to minimize zi xiu tang distributors from getting access to people to sell a product that I feel is neither safe or universally effective.
Joe ,
To answer your questions yes, I was checked out by my doctor before I started because technically as a woman you should be checked out at least 1-2 times per year normally.
And I also need to correct my statement I DO NOT use Zi Xiu Tang in which some refer to it as ZXT……. I use ZXT GOLD bee pollen capsules which is a different product made by a different company but the ingredients are similar. in regards to my email info I don’t care who contacts me I have no problem answering anyone questions in regards to both products because I have used both. So feel free to attach my contact info as I do give you permission.
I will have to take a look at ZXT. Ive heard mixed reviews online about it. Glad you got checked out by your doctor first. Sorry no email.
I offer the same challenge to the zxt gold distributors as I did for the Zi Xiu Tang distributors
http://supplement-geek.com/zi-xiu-tang-distributer-challange/
Im looking for a ZXT Gold label so I can see the ingredients. Does anyone know where I can get this or can email me a label?
Has anyone tried the new 500mg version?
Joe,
An update: Ever since using these pills, I have had trouble losing weight, even though I eat an excellent diet and workout at least 5 days a week. I probably have to increase my workout, but I must say that I’ve also felt sluggish, overly fatigued and swelling in my neck region. I am (or was) HEALTHY; I go to the doctor often and physically, people would NOT mind looking like me because I am muscular. I DO have extra weight, though; its the reason I began these so-called miracle pills.
If you recall previously I left a comment asking about the ingredient in this pill that helped my skin and since I’ve been using Diatomaceous Earth, the food grade, of course.
I’ve tried to read everything there is on Diatomaceous Earth, and I’m yet to find anything negative about the main element, silica. In fact, I’ve read that the body needs plenty of silca. It makes my skin look AMAZING and it’s supposed to be great for humans, animals AND plants!!
It’s supposed to be “all natural” (again with this dangerous and misleading phrase). Is this too good to be true? Do you have thoughts about Diatomaceous earth?
Tahisha, I have not done any research (yet) on diatomaceous earth. Ive also never seen that the body needs “plenty of silica”. We probably need some but Ive never seen anything on how much. It is in some toothpastes also so you are probably getting some that way also
You have been going to your doctor about your inability to lose weight yes? Just want to make sure. Sometimes unexplained weight gain can be due to bad stuff like cancer. Im sure thats probably a long shot (thank goodness) but wanted to toss it out to you.
Since you say you are feeling tired, I wonder if you may be working out too much? Do you have trouble sleeping? This week I want you to take your heart rate before you get out of bed and write it down. Do it for 5 days preferably on days that your alarm does not go off.
If you are working out, Id expect your heart rate to be 60 beats a minute or less. If its higher than this, that may be a sign of working out too much. Again, just a thought that occurred to me.
Hello All, Its been months since i have been back and i can see some great conversations going on..I would just like to share another story/experience. I stopped coming and checking the site out in April because I found out I was expecting! Blessed with another soul to love in my life.
Last week I went in for a routine U/S and the baby had passed away. I was devastated. To see my child up on a screen with no heartbeat is something ill never forget. Anyway, The Dr said this is normal 30% of women blah blah blah.
Heres the thing…I’m healthy, young,i don’t smoke ,don’t do drugs i exercise every morning at 430am. and my job is no where near anything toxic or bad.
Im not trying to say the ZXT caused this. more of just buyer beware. This is the only difference in this pregnancy than my last. I have had 2 other full term 100% healthy babies.
I know its a freak thing that happens but I had taken the zxt (not the new one) for about 3 weeks before i actually found out i was pregnant. It might be just me needing a solid explanation but i think theres nothing to say it wasn’t a contributing factor.
I know while i was on it my cycle was all out of whack and at one point was late by 3 weeks. I have gained some weight back but i was also 11 weeks pregnant when i lost the baby. I wont be going back on ZXT. My priorities have shifted and I rather be fat then chance losing another baby.
Also, the person i used to get my ZXT is now selling about 5 different “weight loss” pills..one is the new ZXT the blue and green ones and the others are some “slim shape” or something like that. i wont be trying those either.
Sorry to lay my sob story on you all. theres just a lot of women on here and IF the ZXT did have something to do with my losing the baby i rather let you all know to save even just one person the heartache.
Hope you are all well!
Nikki
Nikki, I gasped when I read your words! Oh my goodness I am SO SORRY to hear about the loss of your baby. I know I can not even imagine what you went through -and still are going through. I wish I had words to help…
nikki, i am soo sorry for your loss. I lost my 15 month old child in 2009, so i know exactly how you feel. whether or not the cause of your misfortune was zxt or not dosent really matter. You did your part and warned people.
Mia, so very sorry to hear about your loss as well! I cannot imagine the pain you and Nikki have been through. I will say a prayer for both of you.
Thank you Nikki for that story. I really appreciate your story. Mia as well. For all the people who just pop in here asking about a product that is clearly very risky, you should probably go elsewhere because it is annoying.
Thanks for the advice Joe. This forum has been of the utmost help and interest to me. Thanks for inviting such wonderful conversation to be exchanged.
Tahisha, thanks for the compliment. I am glad I am able to help in some small way.
Joe,Mia,Tahisha thank you so much for the condolences. I appreciate that. Mia i cant even fathom bringing a child into this world and then losing them such a short time later. i am so sorry you had to go through that. its the unthinkable.
I should also mention that since getting off the ZXT my blood pressure has gone back to normal and i am not on any medication.
i was going to be started on a pregnancy safe blood pressure medication if it was still an issue AND the med– hydrochlorothiazide i had been taking a few weeks prier to finding out i was expecting is harmful to the baby and i was told to stop immediately so even if the ZXT caused the high blood pressure and it was the meds i was on that contributed to the loss of the baby i still hold ZXT partly at fault..
ZXT seemed like a god send at first..look back at any of my previous posts and you’ll see me gung-ho for it..now? i doubt you could pay me to take it. My gym membership is 40 a month and the pills were 45…ill trade the hard work and sweat for the easy out..i should have known better
Hi all, have been following this thread since last year when I first started taking zi xui tang in October (great resource, Joe!). Here’s my story: I had a baby last july and waited until I was done breastfeeding to start taking the pills and lost around 20 pounds from October-March, but things seemed to have plateaued recently… in fact I even gained 5 pounds back!
I checked the reviews of my distributor (loseitfast) and their response to other’s same question was, “you have been using them for a while and have reached a plateau… your weight loss will slow down for a while to give your body time to prepare for more weight loss.
Losing an excessive amount of weight too quickly is unhealthy.” or “depending on how long you have been taking the product, a third capsule may be helpful at bedtime to boost the effect.” – has anyone else heard or experienced this lull with the effectiveness of the pill?
I know senna was taken out of the ingredients shortly after I started taking the pills, but I still had a little success then after. I still have a little baby weight I’d like to shed; can anyone point me in the right direction of a reliable distributor, or if in fact taking a third pill at bedtime will help? I feel like this pill was too good to be true, but then it worked and now has been taken out from under me when I had not reached my goal yet! haha – thanks in advance
i wouldn’t go for a 3rd pill. those pills aren’t FDA approved so there’s no saying how much of any given ingredient is in one pill. its not monitored. you could try doing a meal replacement bar or shake.
Hi all, I have been taking these pills on and off now. when i first started i took it everyday faithfully and within the first two weeks i already lost a good 5lbs, then a month went by and i lost 20lbs! I was crazy amazed..I recommended the product to all my friends and the same results.
I guess for the ones who it doesn’t work for maybe your not following everything it says. Also, none of us has ever faced any side affects of any sort. The best part is that when you stop, it takes you forever to gain weight back. (well i’m a food lover, I got too happy after all that weight loss LOL!) I’m taking them again but have not been faithful to it, but it really works great when you are faithful!
In case anyone was wondering about Slim Forte, its been recalled by the FDA because it contains Sibutramine

I thought I’d post this since someone just asked me about it.
Hello I took the bee pollen pills last summer. I took 2 months worth and lost 10 pounds only. However I stopped taking the pills due to dizziness, dry mouth, migraines, and constant loose stools every time i ate.
Sad to say after three months of being Bee pollen free I gained 25lbs….EEK. I eventually started working out and eating better and lost 16 lbs. i strongly suggest if you take these don’t stop because you will gain it all back eventually and some. My mom took them also around the same time and stopped the same that i did and gained more back than she lost also.
i used zi xiu tang bee pollen capsules. i started these pills last November i believe. i got 3 bottles, they worked amazing! 9lbs my first week! then it was just 2-3 a week after that. faithful for the first 2 months, bouncy on the third month. lost 25 lbs. stayed off them for a few months til i started gaining back, not eating well granted because while on these pills i ate EVERYTHING and still lost! dream come true.
Definitely makes you wonder whats really in these things? started taking them again and didn’t lose an ounce. sooo many people i knew were on them and some lost up to 70lbs. seemed like we all stopped losing at the same time? i guess it was the removal of the infamous ingredient and when we started up again after taking a break, nothing.
others couldn’t take it due to headaches etc. in my experience, everyone in their 20′s really had great results. 40 and up not so much. weird. a selective few had good results, but that was my personal observation. i knew about 20 people on them. i mean i absolutely loved these pills, the only side effect was bathroom trips! but it was worth it. i was looking into purchasing the new and improved 500mg…..skeptical now.
sad to hear all of the alleged side effects. hope everyone is well, happy and healthy! thanks for all of the research and testimonies!
Dani, yes its all very odd. Im still waiting to hear from the FDA about what they found when they tested Zi Xiu Tang. If I ever hear anything I will post it here so everyone can check it out.
