Glucosulin sounds like a diabetes drug but it’s really a weight loss supplement. According to the products website, Glucosulin works by reducing how much you eat as well as slowing the absorption of sugar (glucose) into the blood stream. Let’s now review this product and see what we can discover.
Glucosulin Ingredients
- Glucomannan (Konjac Root)
- Sodium Alginate
- Xanthum Gum
- Mulberry Extract
- Gymnema Slyvestre
- Chromium Picolinate
Let’s now review the evidence for each ingredient.
Glucomannan is a type of fiber. One of the ways that fiber helps weight loss is by making people feel full. Glucomannan does this also by expanding in size greatly when it comes in contact with water. In this way, glucomannan stretches the stomach, making you feel like you are full. Because of this property, glucomannan tablets should be used with caution because there are several cases where glucomannan tablets swelled in size while in the esophagus.
Glucomannan capsules may have a reduced chance of this happening but to be safe put one in water to see how fast it expands in size.
There are also a few studies on glucomannan helping weight loss and this is likely one of the main reasons it’s included in this product.
While not all studies show glucomannan effective for weight loss, the logic is sound: trick the brain into thinking the stomach is full and people eat less.
Other research suggests that glucomannan can modestly reduce cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and lower blood sugar in diabetics.

Diabetics should remember that glucomannan may interact with their diabetes drugs so run this by your doctor if your a diabetic.
Sodium Alginate (also called Align) is derived from seaweed and is an additive used to make foods thicker. Because it is thought to be indigestible, it makes sense that it would be used in a weight loss product. In other words, like glucomannan, it takes up space in the stomach without giving any nutritional calories. Also like glucomannan, Align may also modestly lower cholesterol in some people. I could not locate any published peer reviewed studies that sodium alginate helps weight loss in humans.
Xanthum Gum is another type of food additive frequently showing up in salad dressings and ice cream. It is also sometimes used as a laxative. Xanthum gum also has a blood sugar lowering effect and as such may interact with medications for diabetes. There are no published peer reviewed studies that xanthum gum helps weight loss.
Because xanthum gum can be derived from several foods including wheat, soy or corn, those who are sensitive to these foods should contact the company first to determine where their xanthum gum comes from.
Mulberry Extract is also used as a laxative due to its fiber content. In theory mulberry may lower blood sugar levels and/or interact with diabetic medications. There are no published peer reviewed studies on mulberry helping weight loss.
Gymnema Slyvestre. This ingredient also may lower blood sugar levels and interact with diabetic medications. There is no published peer reviewed research on gymnema slyestre helping weight loss.
Chromium Picolinate. Chromium frequently shows up in weight loss supplements despite a deluge of evidence that it does not work. Because chromium does appear to have a blood sugar lowering effect, it also sometimes is marketed to those with type II diabetes.
As with other ingredients mentioned, chromium can interact with diabetic medications including insulin and oral medications like glucophage (metformin) .
Glucosulin Weight Loss Summary
Ingredients that may help weight loss
- Glucomannan (Konjac Root)
- Sodium Alginate (in theory)
Ingredients that lower blood sugar
- Glucomannan (Konjac Root)
- Xanthum Gum
- Mulberry Extract 30:1 Ratio
- Gymnema Slyvestre
- Chromium Picolinate
Of all the ingredients in Glucosulin most of the weight loss research is on only one substance – glucomannan.
Because of a possible significant blood sugar lowering effect (in diabetics especially), I honestly do not like the name, Glucosulin. It sounds like a diabetes drug (which it is not!). The product appears to be at least partially based on the idea that lowering blood sugar causes weight loss – which is not true. Reducing calories causes weight loss. Because of this fact, I come to the conclusion that it is Glucomannan (Konjac Root) that is the active ingredient in Glucosulin.
Will Glucosulin Work?
Fiber can help people lose weight. Because glucosulin has glucomannan which is a fiber, it makes sense that this product may work for some people. But will glucamannan work better than other fibers – like those in fruits and vegetables? That is the question people should ask themselves.
Buyer Beware
A one month supply of Glucosulin costs about $50 according to the product website. That is a lot of money for a fiber supplement. There is a “free 30 trial” available on the Glucosulin website but, if you choose this option, you will automatically be sent a new 60 day supply every 60 days at a cost of $39.98 per bottle. In addition, your credit card will also be charged $ 7.80 for shipping and handling. Also this option does not allow you to return the product if you do not like it. These terms are stated clearly on the Glucosulin website.
Have you tried Glucosulin? Did it help? Did you notice any side effects?

I have been using this product for three weeks without changing my daily routine and have lost 8 lbs. Also my blood pressure has gone down to normal wether from the pills or the weight loss, I’m not sure. But overall I am satisfied with the product.
Marissa What was your blood pressure before using Glucosulin and what is it now? I’m glad it is helping you.
Its been around 146/94 give or take, and now its around 118/72.
Marissa. Its possible that your weight loss caused your reduction in blood pressure. Even modest weight loss can cause this. I’m glad your BP is down regardless
I have a lap-band and was considering using this product. However, since it expands so quickly I’m afraid it would get stuck in the upper portion of my stomach and cause damage. Is that a possibility?
Thanks for taking the time to consider my question.
Hi Wendellyn while I am not a doctor I think this might be a possibility. I do think you talk to your doctor before using glucosulin. I dont know if the product or its ingredients has been studied in those with lap bands. I did not see any research when I did my glucosulin review. After you speak with your lap-band doctor, I would appreciate it if you comment about what your doctor said about glucosulin.
How does it interact with insulin? Will it cause the blood sugar to go lower quicker along with insulin, or will it cause the insulin to be non-effective?
Glinda several of of the ingredients in glucosulin appear to lower blood sugar. In theory this means that they would add to the blood sugar lowering effect of insulin. This can be dangerous for diabetics if blood sugar goes to low. Glucosulin is not a substitute for insulin. Glucosulin is not insulin and should not replace insulin. Glinda if you are a diabetic I want to you to speak to your doctor before using glucosulin. Print up my review and show it to your doctor and she/he can give you much better advice.
My brother saw your advertisment on tv and told me about it. My question to you would be. After the 30 day trial, if it doesnt work for us, am I gonna have a hard time canceling it before the next shipment gets shipped out? I’ve been caught up in schemes before and had to go thru changing my bank account info cause there was no way to stop the withdrawals from my account. I definitely dont want to go thru that again.
I was told when I ordered the trial order that they would send me a 30 day supply, which I believed to be 1 bottle. I did not check the package and there was 2 bottles. I was told that if I did not return the unused or empty bottle within 30 days I would be charged thirty something dollars for the 30 day supply. I did not send them the bottles but yet they charged me $99 for the 30 day supply.
If you refer to their website a 30 day supply if taken (copied from their FAQ on website)2 capsules equal one dose. There are 45 doses in one bottle. When taking 2 capsules daily (one dose) one bottle lasts 45 days. When taking 4 capsules daily (two doses), one bottle lasts 22.5 days. When taking taking 6 capsules daily (3 doses), one bottle lasts 15 days. Refer to the picture taken from their website stating that a 1 month supply is 1 bottle, but they shipped 2.
I believe this to be a scam as they are prescribing how much I am to take and not being upfront as to how many bottles will be sent or I would have canceled before trying product. I would not pay that much per bottle for any supplement.
When I called to resolve the issue the Lady would not listen she would just repeat what the paperwork in the envelope stated (not what was told to me over the phone). I assumed that the package contained a packing slip not a statement stating that I would be charged more than quoted over the phone.
I have been in business for over 25 years and this is not a ethical business practice and I believe that companies such as this should be held accountable for their deceptive practices.
(AFTER READING THIS, I’VE DONE ANSWERED MY QUESTION. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME REPLYING BACK. I WON’T WAIST MY TIME ODERING THIS PRODUCT. OUTHA BE ASHAME TAKING PEOPLES MONEY. THERE’S ONLY ONE PLACE FOR PEOPLE LIKE THIS AND GOD WILL SEE TO IT THAT THEY BE PUT THERE!!!)
If this product is good as you say. Then why dont you send me the free bottle first and let me try it. If it works then I’ll order for more and pay for it. If it dont work ….then I wont have to go thru the hassle of trying to canceling it. Less paper work or button pushing you’ll have too do. Dont give me money back guarantee if it dont work. Just let my try the product before I give you my info. You would get more people buying it from that way. Cause you be standing behind your guarantee that the product work. If you cant do that, then it means your product aint worth it.
Now you just prove how yall stand up for yall product. By deleting my comments tells me this product isnt worth it.
Faye. You didn’t see MY advertisement for glucosulin. I am not the maker or seller of glucosulin. I just did a review of the product. If you read my review you will see I told you about the “free 30 day trial” and how it could be expensive in the end. Hopefully by calling Glucosulin customer service company you were able to avoid problems with your credit card being charged
Joe, thanks for your objective reviews. This shows the lack of valid peer review studies for many of the supplements that these companies are trying to claim cure diseases, such as controlling blood sugar (diabetes). Any supplement should require the company to demonstrate it is safe and effective prior to being sold.
Thanks. I really appreciate you saying that
Thanks for the information on this. I wondered if it was a scam. I’m always tempted to try these things and have the same problems with being charged for more than I want. (Like Faye Perry) Sorry for your trouble; I’ve had the same things happen to me with other products.
Glad I could help you Sheri. If you have questions about other products let me know. I’m always looking for new supplements to review
If this product makes you full and you eat less, if you are on insulin then it might give you a low suger. Depending on how much insulin you take this could lead to a diabetic coma, I would be afraid to use it.
Just like other As Seen On TV products, do you know if this has made it to any store shelves yet or if it ever will? I would rather take the chance in the store on 1 bottle than 3 bottles on my credit card.
I would like to know how does it interact with hypo thyroid? appreciate any information. thanks!
Marlene. I’d be curious also. Glucosulin has probably not been tested in those with hypothyroidism. I did not see anything in the research that I reviewed. If I uncover anything else I will definitely update this review for you.
What did my momma always say? If it sounds too good to be true . . . it is! I plan on asking my doctor about it. I hate how these companies feel they can take people for their money in the name of a cure!
everybodys complaining about can they return the porduct. i have yet to see but one or two people comment on the product itself and if it REALLY WORKS. If it works then we wont need to return because we’ll be chewing them up each and evryday. so lets see some real comments with some real people
Joe
i was wondering why it says some things interact with metformin medications. is that true. is it ok to be taking other diabetic medications and taking the glucosulin. how long has this medicine been around thank you.
Hi Michelle. good question. Glucosulin as far as I can tell has not been studied for how it works when it’s combined with diabetes medications.
Some of the ingredients in Glucosulin likely would reduce blood sugar. Because some diabetes medications can also reduce blood sugar, in theory there may be an additive effect, resulting in blood sugar going too low.
This is a theoretical possibility that has not been proven (because nobody has tested Glucosulin with diabetes meds that I know if). I thought it was important to mention this theoretical possibility just to be safe. If your medication is working I’d ask why you need Glucosulin?
If you are taking medications for diabetes like metformin, ask your doctor or pharmacist if its OK to also use Glucosulin .
I was wondering about taking this medication and having an underactive tyroid. Will it affect me in any way.
Hi Michelle. Honestly I’m not sure. I don’t remember seeing anything about this when I wrote my glucosulin review but I can’t say for certain. That’s why I recommend you take glucsulin to your doctor and see what he/she says.
Or, print this report up and take it to your doctor. I reviewed each ingredient in glucosulin. That way your doctor can easily look over each ingredient and let you know what they think.
Hope that helps Michelle!
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!BUYER BEWARE!!!!!BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!
I ordered what was supposed to be a thirty day trail offer..took it to my Dr. and was told not to use it…I chalked it up to a $49.99 lost..Well how wrong was I when I saw my bank statements…one for $89.99 then another for $99.99…So I called the company to let them know I did not authorize them to take this extra money from my account..the CRS told me they had to review my call and call me back..well i’m still waiting for that call back..and guess what? I recieved another order of the CRAPCOSULIN!!! I called again today and they said my claim was false..That I did aurthorize it and I was not entitled to a refund of the $210.00(s&h included) the company stole from me. I then asked if I could the phone call and was told I ha to call them back cause they had to send an e-mail and blah, blah, bla…I just hate the fact that this company is a big flim/flam..I say keep your money and work with your doctor or better yet take a 30min walk daily and you’ll see how the pounds and the blood sugars change…BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shay. Thanks for sharing your experiences!! If you call your credit card company they can dispute it on your behalf. You can also tell them not to process any other orders from glucosulin.
Fight this. If this has happened to others your credit card company knows about it and should take steps to help you.
Do write back about what happens so you can keep helping others who may be having the same problem.
Excellent review – They have been pushing this stuff on TV non-stop for the last few weeks. Now that I know how they do business – seems like the only thing that is guarenteed to be reduced is your bank account.
Thanks Suzi. I very much appreciate your feedback!
Would it just be cheaper and less stressful to just buy the ingredients in this product?
Lakiesha. it would be an interesting experiment to do
I have been taking this product since Nov 16,2010 and have noticed an actual weight gain of a few pounds. Fortunately I was given the option of canceling any future orders and returning the unused portion with no other cost other than the $11.80 for S & H on the original 2 bottles I received. I intended to take for 2 weeks then return unused portion if I was not satisfied, before I was liable for more money. My two weeks are up on Nov 30
Here’s the latest update on my dealings with the company that makes Glucosulin. I called Monday 11/29-2010 to get an RA #(required to return the product). I got the number and shipped the product back on 11/29/2010 with a delivery confirmation request and guess what? The post office attempted delivery 12/01/2010 @ 9:26am, NO ONE ACCEPTED THE PACKAGE. So if the post office is unsuccessful for 15 days the package will be returned to me. How do you like those apples? On-line shopping has its downfalls.
Rebecca thanks for keeping us posted about your experiences and problems with Glucosulin. Try calling the company again and ask why nobody accepted the glucosulin you tried to return. Hopefully you can get this resolved and yes I agree, there are downsides to shopping online…
Call the TV stations which air the commercials and let them know that you are boycotting their programming until they remove those Glucosulin ads.
After a call to the company the return package was redelivered @ 1:07p on 12/01/2010 and my account canceled.
I did my own research on this pill before I found your review. And my research agreed with yours. So folks, take his word for the pill. And having written on my blog about a number of these ads, I believe everything the commenters say. At least this company doesn’t throw the ubiquitous ‘a second order for just the processing’ at you. BTW, the processing and shipping is $11.80 per bottle, $21.80 for Canada
Joe, can you review a product called “Glucator” from a company called Baseline Nutrionals?
Deanne, thanks for the heads up Ill take a look at it and review it for you in the near future.
Joe and all others who have commented,
Glad I found this site, I had thought of ordering. Saw the add, and just the way it is worded it makes it sound like a free clinical trial of a new drug. Making it way more important sounding. Joe, your review was reasonable and appears accurate, If a person wants to expand their stomach will healthy filler there’s far cheaper ways to do it.
To everyone that has been having trouble, it is extremely common among products like this. I have spent years helping hundreds of people deal with marginally legitimate companies. I have seen billing like this go on for months even with repeated requests to stop by the customer. I have had this happen to me several times with other companies where requests to cancel a monthly service go largely unnoticed.
One way to deal with such companies that I have found to be extremely successful is to have your attorney write a letter. I have had a dozen situations resolved that way over the last 10 years. and saved or recovered $1000s from long distance phone companies, to car repair, to a situation just like what is described there.
Joe, I don’t know if I can make this recommendation without your deleting it but I hope so. The company I have used which provides excellent service by giving unlimited access to attorneys across the nation for a few pennys a day is Prepaid Legal Services. I’ve used them for 10 years.
No one needs to put up with the kind of abuse I’ve read here, regardless if the product works excellent or not.
– Ken
I’m one of the people that actually sell Glucosulin. If you are considering purchasing from over the phone, be sure that you listen carefully to what the operator is telling you and the billing terms. We repeat the total and break down the terms of the 30 day agreement 3 times in every call, that is required when there is a purchase. Every call is taped and most of the time a Supervisor is monitoring it. Legally we must get a CLEAR YES OR NO on all autoshipments and totals. These calls are gone through with a fine tooth comb and pulled and re-examined if the customer calls in about a complaint.
So when calling any company, you need to be careful what you’re saying yes to. It legally binds you to what that rep has said.
Deanne, here is my Glucotor v.2 review for you.
here is the link to my review
http://supplement-geek.com/glucotor-review/
I was about to order the Glucosulin, but i do not want to experience the money back or cancellation policy if I’m not satisfied with the product. I did once go thru the same situation with another product regarding a free trial, but they cooperated with me and deposited my monies back into my account; it’s how you talk to people and it’s all about paying attention to details. I do not even want to go thru this situation again and for my testimonial, can i get a free trial 1st to actually show it to my doctor/pharmacist to see if they approve and if so, I’ll purchase the product.
How can I get Glucosulin I’am a diabetic and how does it work
Can i get the 30 free day trial? i am interested
I had the same problem as SHAY. I will never get In that fix again.
This is WHY you shouldn’t purchase products on TV in my personal opinion! Most of these things are a SCAM…and yes, even I have been burnt by a HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANY ( United Health)….they didn’t fulfill my Health insurance medications (AFTER I signed up this company said that they couldn’t provide a certain medication….and yes, I too had to CHANGE my bank account because they took $231.00 out for TWO months ! …and never gave me a refund. Although this has nothing to do with the Glucosulin product, as I said above, if you can’t purchase it from a drug store or ask your Dr. then I wouldn’t try it ….period.
Just my opinion of course !
Barbara, you can call the Glucosulin company and ask them if they will send you a free trial.
Jacqueline, never give anybody (insurance company, health club, supplement company etc) access to your bank account This means dont use your debit card either. This lets them do exactly what happened to you.
If you must use a credit card use a credit card that is not tied to your bank account. That way your bank account is protected.
This is a joke, It was to be the trial off and they took 55.97 out of my account. And I can’t get my money back. Do not order this like I did.
Elaine, so sorry to hear that you lost money on Glucosulin. Others have said they have had similar problems with it. I know you are disgusted by what you went through but I know you wont be taken again – and that’s something to be glad of.
I bet this is made by the same cons that made Lipozene and Propolene. Those were also glorified glucomannan pills sold in TV commercials.
Zeke. You are correct. Here is my review of Lipozene
http://supplement-geek.com/lipozene-review/
Been trying it on and off for a few weeks, it really fills me up and pushes things thru my system (fiber) so I’m OK with it. I wouldn’t call it a miracle nor do I think it’s necessarily lowering blood sugar though. I asked my endocrinologist and he noted the chromium piccolinate only (I don’t think he knew about the fiber part), said that it really has never been shown to lower sugars but people seem to think it does.
I’m on metformin which I like to think takes care of the blood sugar part. Anyway, I have not had troubles with the return policy, may keep what’s left and send empty bottles back to avoid the commitment to monthly costs as I’m not sure it’s worth the cost if I can just buy fiber from the health food store and call it a day! Note – I was on Victoza for a while – really bad for me – this is a new drug for type II – just fyi.
Hi Amy, thanks for your comments on Glucosulin. There have been a few studies on chromium picolinate over the years showing it may help blood sugar levels. The response may vary between people. Here is one study to pass along to your endocrinologist
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7882815?dopt=Abstract
Thanks for the informational website! I went to the Glucosulin website, and found it lacked the information I was looking for. I am a Type I diabetic, have been since 1966 (yeah, I’m older than dirt…). I agree with your comment about the name; it’s misleading. I was curious whether this was a product that would help Type I’s as well as II’s, but the official website addresses neither specifically. While I’ve never had a weight problem (Type I is an immune system problem, as opposed to Type II), in the past two years I’ve gained some weight and would like to drop it. Based on your info, I’m guessing there’s a better way; but Glucosulin should be marketed under a more honest name, and the site should do a better job of disclosing it’s real purpose.
Wayne thanks for chiming in on Glucosulin. A simple exercise program may give you the results you are seeking -and provide many other benefits as well.
old as dirt – ha! good one! You are only as old as you feel
Oh No. I have been taking this medicine for a couple of weeks and I do feel less bloated, but it probably is just the laxative effect then. Now I guess I will have to take on the company and see if I can get this canceled. Did not know this website was here or I would have read it first. I should have known better, I usually avoid the TV ads like the plague.
Hi Cherrie, I’m glad you found me. I write about many things you see on TV and the web so check back regularly
I’m sure they won’t give you any trouble canceling it. Leave another comment if they do.
I tried already, and after 3 weeks (when I was very hungry after I took a pills) I made some research.
And doctors are RIGHT!!! (unfortunately!) Because lower your blood sugar makes you VERY HUNGRY!!!!!!
Anyway, I gained 20 lbs. in 3 weeks. SORRY guys!
Klaudia, I’m sorry to hear that. Odds are you did not gain 20 lbs of fat in 3 weeks. I think a good amount of that weight is water. Still, I know how discouraging that can be. Try not to focus on it and try anew tomorrow. All things yield to firm resolve in the end.
hi, just wanted to chime in with this Glucosulin. Saw the ad on TV. Called the number and the woman was very pushy with the sales pitch. Tried to get her to send me a brochure on the product. She ignored my request and continued to pressure me into buying a bottle. Hung up on her. I HATE PUSHY TWERPS. So glad I found your website.
Cindy, thanks for letting me know about that -and I feel the same way about pushy salespeople! I’m also glad you found me as well
Called 1-888-560-8878 talked to a Rep. by the name of Michael # 1540 he also gave me the customer service number which was 1-800-218-5660 to make me feel at ease about calling. Michael also offered me the auto ship which I declined, a coupon savings program which I also declined. All of this was being recorded. My offer was 2 bottles at a trial period of 30 days.
If at all I would decide that the product was not right for me I would be able to send back the empty bottles at no further charge to me. All I would be out of is the 11.80 S&H. I’m hoping everything is legit and nothing goes wrong. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Sherry keep me posted on how it goes with Glucosullin
I just got off the phone with these people, and again very pushy sales lady. Glad I googled this site while talking to her.
She then told me that the free offer was not available in Canada (lol), but she could send me at full retail with a money back guarantee….
Before I ended the call I told her that I was reading the feedback on the product….
no thanks for the weight gain of 20 lbs…didn’t want to go in that direction.
When I was first diagnosed with type two in Sept I weighed 233 lbs,
I now weigh 195…No supplements, no other stuff…just diet changes, and increase of exercise time from 25 minutes per day to one hour….
Signed,
Shawn M. Canada
Shawn thanks for taking the time to write. Don’t know why they are so pushy? So many people have said that about Glucosulin sales people. Fantastic weight loss you have accomplished! I just wrote something on how to cure type II diabetes – you basically are doing exactly what I said to do
http://www.joe-cannon.com/home/wp/can-type-ii-diabetes-be-cured/
Keep well up there in Canada Shawn!
Dear Joe.,
The book called ” The Diabetes Solution” by Doctor Richard K. Bernstein has been a huge help in understanding the disease and the changes that I needed to make to get better.
Mr. Bernstein has Type 1, and it’s because of his efforts that we have meters in our homes today so that we can measure the levels right at home.
I made changes in the foods that I ate and increased by exercise program from 25 minutes per day to 1 hour. I was already involved in exercise (five years – Karate – now Black Belt) but it was not enough time. Since I didn’t know much about food, I
took a free course offered by a nutritionist at our local grocery store, which gave me the tools for what to eat, how much and when.
The combination of the book, exercise, and the food information is what I’ve used so far (without supplements or additional products (so far).
On Sept. 15th, I weighed 233 lbs. I now weigh 195 lbs.
I also believe that it’s possible to reverse type 2 as well.
My goal is to get to 167 lbs or 170 lbs.
I saw the commercial about the supplement, and was more curious than anything.
I’ll keep posting the results and findings.
Shawn M. (Canada)
Thanks for the name of that book Shawn. Ill have to check it out.
Hi. Thanks for the valuable information. After visiting the disappointing Glucosulin website and reading the comments here, I’m convinced this is another product designed to exploit diabetics. Like many Type II’s, I’m always looking for a panacea. I’m well aware of the value of proper diet, exercise, and weight maintenance and I work at it. But at times, I have difficulty with the rigid lifestyle–constantly having to say no to myself, constantly having to push myself. And I know if I take a break from it, I will pay. I think I’m not alone in my feelings. And I think the Glucosulin people, and others like them, see an opportunity to capitalize on others’ misfortune. I seriously doubt their product will help anyone much.
Kat, I understand how you feel and you are not alone. People often get interested in a supplement (glucosulin etc) because of the benefits or alleged benefits. This is a common rule of sales.
What are the most important benefits of being healthy for you? whatever they are, write down those benefits. I’d bet if you thought about the benefits then that might make things easier.
We all have our weaknesses and everybody will fall off the wagon at some point. Cheating on Sat night does not erase all the good you did Sunday -Friday. Its just a speed bump -and a minor one at that. Thinking about the benefits may make things easier.
Joe, Thanks for the pep talk (above). I will try to focus on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle as you suggest. Thanks too and for the article , “Can Type II Diabetes be Cured.” You promote hopefulness and a positive attitude – you’re a nice man.
Thanks Kat I appreciate that.
I’m soooooo glad I found this site before ordering this for my mother. She’s n her 50s and its harder for her to lose the weight now. I’m trying to get her focused on eating correctly but its very difficult. She’s extremely set n her ways and need “something sweet” every now and then. She also thinks that because cakes and ice creams are sugar free that they’re okay for her to eat. I really don’t know what to do anymore. It just doesn’t seem like I’m getting through to her. Any help or suggestions you may have are greatly appreciated.
Kiki, Im glad you found my site as well. About your mom, I understand your frustration. She needs to understand that gaining weight is not about how much sugar or fat a food has. Gaining weight is all about how many calories a food has. Its possible for a food low in sugar to still have a lot of calories.
If glucosulin worked it is because it made her feel “full” because of the fiber in the product. It all boils down to calories in the end.
Also, show you mom that when she looks at a food label, that the amount of sugar (and calories) in a food are based on only 1 serving.
Many packages of food contain two or more servings per container. So if a bottle of soda lists only 100 calories but is a 20 oz soda, that means it has 2.5 servings per bottle. So that 100 calories becomes 250 calories if your mom drank the whole bottle.
Here is a trick I use when I read food labels. Look at the percentages on the right side of the food label.
if you see 20% or more, its “high” in that ingredient.
if you see 5% or less, then its “low” in that ingredient.
So if, a food is low in sugar but has 20% or more next to fat , its high in fat – and fat has a lot of calories.
Does your moms insurance let her get a consultation with a registered dietitian (RD). Many insurance companies do this. if yes then the RD can help her understand how to eat well to stay healthy. they can also make her up a food. You can find an RD near you by going to the RD website http://www.eatright.org/
Remember you want a “registered dietitian” -not a “nutritionist”. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. look for the letters “RD” and you’ll know you have the right person.
Here is a very good website that I read myself that has good articles on its site http://www.todaysdietitian.com/
If your mom does not have insurance, local hospitals often have free nutrition and diabetes services that can help. They are free.
I hear your frustration in your words. I have been there myself. your a good daughter for helping your mom. She may not believe you because she still thinks of you as “her little girl”. If that’s the case that’s why I suggested somebody else.
I hope this helps you
Joe
I was about to purchase Glucosulin for weight loss but after reading the comments I CHANGED MY MIND Thank you for all the opinions.
awe man.. now I’m concerned this is my second day on this and i found myself going to the bathroom so much more, now I know why.
I am Type 2 and was curious if it would interact with the Metformin – Glucophage that I take and the rep who also was very pushy and stated they have them go through the whole discount coupon stuff and to bare with her.
I hope this is not another scam I actually feel like canceling now but have to wait and I am curious to know if they will give me a hard time….
Genevieve, I hope glucosulin does not let you get dehydrated since you said you were going to the bathroom more than usual. If its really doing that to you I would stop and send glucosulin back and get your money back.
The sales rep was pushy… I wonder if they get commissions?
I found your sight while looking up the website for Glucosulin. My boyfriend saw the commercial several times and asked me to order it for him. He has Type II diabetes and takes glucophage. After reading the ingredients and your explanation of the drug interactions I was appalled at the deceptive nature of the commercial and exorbitant price. I generally am skeptical of anything sold on TV but was willing to check it out for him. Thank you so much for exposing the truth.
Hi Pam thanks for taking the time to write and i am glad I was able to help. Here is something I wrote about how to cure type II diabetes.
http://www.joe-cannon.com/home/wp/can-type-ii-diabetes-be-cured/
Please pass this along to your boyfriend. I think this will help him much more than Glucosulin or any diabetes supplement.
the product is what it is, results pending, the individual that sells people are cons flying below radar, 2.seniors,taken advantage of. the butlers.
I was considering purchasing this product but now that I have read the reviews, I have changed my mind. Thank you everyone for your input.
It cracks me up all you knuckle heads knocking the product when you failed to disclose your complete lack of self control, your Mc Donalds eating habits and your couch potato lifestyles. The product is to help “support” your weight loss efforts not “be” the weight loss magic bullet. Loosing weight is simple.
1. Exercise 1 hr “everyday” with intervals of all out bursts and not at the same pace the whole hour.
2. Eat only foods that are not in a box or a package, i.e roast chicken, raw fruits, steamed vegetables, salads etc.
3. Eat 500 calories less than you need to maintain your weight example 200lb man needs to eat 3600 calories to maintain weight so eat 3100.
4. Sleep as long as your body needs to.
5. Reduce stress
6. Add a supplement to help support your weight loss efforts.
From the knowledge I have I agree with Joe and others that I don’t see the overall product – glucosulin being of much benefit but…
One comment made that I do not agree with stated: “The product appears to be at least partially based on the idea that lowering blood sugar causes weight loss – which is not true. Reducing calories causes weight loss.”
THE ULTIMATE METABOLISM by Scott Rigden, MD and PERFECT WEIGHT by Jordan Rubin will outline reasons showing why some much more is involved than reducing calories. Functional medicine is what we all need to be focused on. I think the medical profession has a lot to learn in the area of prevention and causes of disease and metabolism!
Eric, I would agree with your points for weight loss except #6 – people do not need a supplement to support weight loss efforts. If steps 1-5 work, then no weight loss supplement is needed.
i was very impressed with the review, even though i was skeptical of the truthfulness in it, at first. it sounded like you really knew your stuff, and i was absolutely convinced when i read something to the effect of “people should ask themselves ‘can i get these fibers from fruits and veggies?’” i know now that this review can be trusted and i can assure my father that it looks safe, as he has just ordered the trial offer himself. sorry to hear about the troubles with money i am hearing about this. I’ll be sure to tell him to watch his account history. thanks for the help and info EVERYONE!!
TJ thanks for your comments. Rest assured all of the reviews I write are based on science, logic and rational thought. I never accept payment from any supplement company for reviews I write. Let me know if Glucosulin worked for your dad.
Yes, Id be interested in how you found the name address and info of the person.
1. Look on glucosulin.com, see the terms and conditions, find out that to return, you need to send it back to
Health Resource
Returns Department
41 Canal St.
Lewiston, ME 04240
1a. as an aside, learn that you must be dealing with a billionaire moth&$^#%$(#, at least in his own mind. The terms and conditions state that “All materials, including without limitation, graphics, images, HTML, codes, multimedia clips, Java codes, logos, button icons, banners and software, contained in this site are the copyrighted property of Health Resource.”
slight problem. “Health Resource” is not the name of a person or a corporation, and therefore cannot “own” property. Also, the Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Discover logos are on the site, so this (bleep) must think he owns the copyright to those logos, if not the entire companies. wow.
2. Google the return address. Find Great Lakes Fulfillment Services. Colon flow. Acai Advanced. Glucosulin. So on, So forth. You’ll also find some other companies that rent space there, not affiliated with this guy. You can tell that because they actually give people something for their money.
3. Go to ripoffreport.com (one of my favorite sites). search for glucosulin…colon flow…acai advanced…, and find reports that end in -GLF (Great lakes Fulfillment).
4. Go to the Maine Secretary of State website, search for Great Lakes Fulfillment. Find Arnold C Macdonald listed.
5. Go to dexknows, search for arnold c macdonald in lewiston maine. Find an address and phone number.
Joe,
Here is an extra twist that you may want to consider/investigate. I am type II and had gastric bypass (not the lap band – total gastric bypass) and while I thought this product sounded good, I am so glad I found the information here.
My GB surgery did not cure my type II as recently reported in the media, so I am still on insulin and Metformin.
After finding out that the “active ingredient” here is fiber, I will not be trying it. Sure it makes you feel full, because of the expansion of the fiber. Food that expands after you swallow it can be very difficult for GB folks.
Some times it can be as simple as hard bread, like a bagel. I can no longer eat many types of pasta. One binge on a bag of gummy worms (yes, I know, bad in soooo many ways) left me moaning on the couch one day for 4 hours. Could not force them to exit
and with no digestive juices in my stomach, all I could do was wait for them to dissolve on their own.
Probably more than you wanted to know, but in the interest of sharing information, thought this could add to your database.
Things that swell up in your stomach are not always the best move. And gastric bypass and Lap Bands are more and more common.
Jenny, thank you sooo much for telling me about this! You have opened my eyes to something I had not considered. Yes it does make total sense that fiber -especially any fiber that expands -would be bad for those who have had lap band or gastric bypass surgery. I will be keeping this in mind when I review other similar weight loss products and will be sure to mention this moving forward.
Jenny when did you have your gastric by pass and how much weight have you lost so far? Im just curious since you said it did not cure your type II diabetes. While everybody is different, I’m wondering if the gastric by pass might help your type II diabetes in time as you continue to lose weight.
You are exercising yes? remember exercise helps by ramping up the number sugar receptors that do not need insulin to work. This helps lower your blood sugar.
i called the number to get product my doctor told me i had to lose 40lbs. i am a diabetic and thinking that it would work the representative i talk to were very pushy and not really talking about the products he was more into the coupons, trying to get more money, so i called to cancel and she told me it takes 3 to 4 weeks its all a lie and they should be ashamed of their self i am going to see if its something about people leading people on to get people money its all a lie.
Mary I’m so sorry the Glucosulin sales people did that to you. If you gave them a credit card you can call your credit card company and dispute the charge. That should stop the payment.
Don’t lose hope. Its good you want to make a change and lose 40 pounds. I dont think Glucosulin or any weight loss supplement is the long term answer. See if tomorrow you can eat something healthy and take a 20 min walk. See if you can do that for a few weeks.
If you don’t know what foods are healthy, go back to your doctor and ask him/her to give you a referral to a “registered dietitian”. They can put you on a healthy eating plan to help you lose the weight.
I am a Type II that is seriously overweight and disabled due to years of abusing my body in service to my country. I have problems being able to do exercise and some days, getting out of bed is a problem. I bought into the TV hype being desperate to lose weight; I hope I didn’t make to big a mistake in purchasing ‘Glusosulin’.
I assumed from the name that it was a product that would work well and I am surprised now (not then) that I didn’t receive any drug interaction warnings. I wasn’t asked about current meds or anything.
I just started taking the product today (just before I found your website) and have decided for now, to continue with it for a week or two. I will monitor my blood sugar much more often than I have been (more than three times a day while on Glucosulin) and at the end of that period, I will notify you of the results – not only to my BS, but my weight as well. I will check back in around the first of May. Until then, wish me luck…
Bob, thanks for taking the time to write and I do hope Glucosulin works for you. I know everyone who has read your words appreciates what you have sacrificed in defense of America. I know I do.
Do keep me posted if Glucosulin works for you. If not, my hope is that you would seek out someone at the VA or other organization who can help you.
All of the Glucosalin ingredients are available for less money at health food stores like GNC. Glucosalin is NOT a very good deal!!
well i guess i just got saved from being ripped off. i am a 26 yr old with heart failure and type ll diabetes and I’m 215 lbs. my doc said i need to be at least 145 lbs for my size, so i was gonna take glucosulin till i found this. i also have lots of water retention and a serious upper abdominal hernia that’s keeps me from exercising they way i need to. i am tired all the time and i don’t have insurance so i haven’t been able to get back to the doc yet. any other ideas on how i can loose weight?
Mrs Atkins, I’m so sorry to hear about your health issues. Does your doctor give you any advice or options on weight loss. Since you do not have insurance have you contacted a local hospital about this? Many hospitals run free weight loss / diabetes education classes. They are often run by dietitians and some even have a supervised exercise program that can be tailored to your needs. Many hospitals also have a “patient advocate” who can help point you in the right direction.
If the hospital does not pan out, call your doctors office and explain your problems to the staff. They may have options for you. Don’t let your lack of insurance stop you from going to your doctors. They are in the business of helping people. They will not turn you away.
In spite of your health problems you are only 26 years old. I believe with help you can safely lose the weight you need. Be patient, ask questions and I feel the answer will manifest itself. It will take time but I believe in you.
